Poulter captures JBWere Masters

Golf Betting Lines

12/18/2011 - Melbourne, Australia (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Englishman Ian Poulter carded a four- under-par 67 on Sunday and won the JBWere Masters title by three strokes over Marcus Fraser.

Poulter, who captured the Volvo World Match Play Championship this past season, ended at 15-under 269 for the four rounds at Victoria Golf Club.

Fraser had the best round of the day by firing a seven-under 64, but it was Poulter who had the best start and carried that over to capture the tournament.

Poulter had a great tee shot on the opening hole, a par-4. His shot came within 15 feet of the pin and Poulter eagled the hole. He birdied seven and nine. He also had a birdie on the par-3 16th before tripping to a bogey 6 on the 17th hole. He parred the last to secure the win.

"It's been a difficult year, but obviously the Aussie Masters champion is very special," Poulter said. "It was nice to add it (the tournament). I haven't been to Australia for a few years. I'm happy. I needed to play well this week."

Geoff Ogilvy, the 2006 U.S. Open champion, ended at 11-under 273 and alone in third. He held a two-shot lead entering Sunday's final round.

Australians Adam Crawford and Peter Senior each finished in a tie for fourth at seven-under 277.

World No. 1 Luke Donald struggled to a one-over score on the final day. He tied for 12th at four-under 280.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch

Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.

Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.

"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."

MySportsbook.com and Kentucky Derby Offer Bonuses
The 2008 Kentucky Derby has announced a $1-million bonus for this weekend’s 134th ‘Run for the Roses’ and MySportsbook.com is doing the same.

Well, not quite $1 million, but MySportsbook.com is offering a 75% rebate for Kentucky Derby lines. Check out the exclusive horse racing bonus for all the details.

According to MySportsbook.com, the favorites for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky are: Curlin (+250); Street Sense (+500); Scat Daddy (+700); Circular Quay (+750); and Nobiz Like Shobiz (+800).

Derby organizers announced this week that there will be a $1-million bonus at the 2007 Kentucky Derby odds if the first-place horse wins by more than 6 1/2 lengths – the margin of Barbaro's victory last year. The bonus would be divided Saturday among the winning trainer, jockey, owner and a charity, with each receiving 25 percent. The designated charity is the Barbaro Memorial Fund.

''It's certainly creative, it's certainly fun and it has something for the horsemen, which we always want to embrace,'' Churchill Downs president and chief executive Robert Evans said at a news conference. ''What's really cool is it will force us to remember Barbaro.''

Meanwhile, the Derby favorite – Curlin – is going against the odds this year. It's been 125 years since Apollo won after skipping his 2-year-old season, and not since Regret in 1915 has such a lightly seasoned horse worn the blanket of red roses.

Arkansas Derby winner Curlin – unbeaten in three career races – tries to overcome both those obstacles in Saturday's 133rd Derby.

''We're not running against history,'' trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. ''We're running against who they load up.''

Six other horses have run in the Derby without benefit of 2-year-old races and with three or fewer starts. The best any of them managed was a sixth-place finish by Showing Up last year.

Asmussen dismissed suggestions that Curlin's lack of racing experience could keep him from the winner's circle.

”He exudes confidence and he's got a great presence about him,'' the trainer said. ''I feel great about the position we're in. He's not worried about anything, why should you be?''

The Kentucky Derby is at 4:04 p.m., ET Saturday.
